The Poland Players Are Back!
“All Shook Up!” Runs November 2nd-4th, 2023
By Jason Garneau
The first Poland Players show of the 23-24 school year is ready to roll, full of humor, entertainment, love, and ELVIS! Experience many of the favorite Elvis Presley songs -- live! -- like “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” and many more!
What are insiders saying about this show?
Brady Milton (who plays Dean) said:
“It means a big sense of community, both with the story of the script, because everyone relates to one thing, love, and with rehearsal, we all get to enjoy everyone's company while doing something we love!”
Ms. Fryda, assistant to the show's director, said:
“Aside from all things ELVIS that make it fun, this musical is hilarious. The story is silly (in a good way) and the lines are really funny. There's cross-dressing and innuendo and all-around goofiness. I snort-laugh at least once at every rehearsal.”
Mrs. Robinson, the show's director, said, “ I love seeing the kids blossom. Theaters are important because they show the real truth about human nature, (helping kids) learn how to express themselves, and teach teamwork.” Mrs. Robinson has been doing her theater thing in a big way since PRHS first opened in 1999. She likes the idea of her audience forgetting about the real world while watching a show.
Mr. Martin, our school's music director for theater, chimed in: “I find that the exciting part is the process of putting together a complex project and then presenting it to people. When you are backstage and know what's coming next but the audience doesn't, it is a particularly fun feeling.” He thinks that Elvis was “just waiting to have one of these made with his music.”
