Parker Demelia's Early Coronavirus Days
Saturday, March 21:
I woke up at 7 today to fly to Orlando, Florida from Portland, Maine. (This trip was not planned because of Covid-19, it was planned in December before it was a ‘thing.’) The flight was cool, it was the first time I have been on one. It took about 3 ½ hours. I saw a large number of people wearing masks. The resort is really nice. We have a suite with a balcony and a full kitchen. There are two pools, a big hot tub, and a beach.
Sunday, March 22:
We went shopping to get some more food and stuff. There was no toilet paper. When we got back we went swimming in the pool and then at the beach. The water is like 75 degrees Fahrenheit in both. The staff said there are normally around 240 suites rented at this time and currently they have about 80 rooms rented.
Monday, March 23:
Most of the big cruise ships are docked. They are really massive. I’m pretty sunburnt and a bit tan, it kinda hurts.
Tuesday, March 24:
I had a decent amount of homework today. Not much though. The pool was nice, we were there for a few hours. I got super sunburnt and it hurts to move.

I'm not really sure whether I'm being asked to analyze the article or just share what I have been doing with all this free time. I'm gonna go with the interpretation that is more fun.
I finally know after three years of being sleep deprived what it’s like to get enough sleep at night. Typically I’m working Tuesdays until 10 at night, and 16-hour weekends or staying up until 10 working on homework after sports and visiting with my mom and dad once they get home from work. Then, thanks to my lovely second wind of energy that decides to show up as I'm getting ready for bed, I stay up till midnight. Then six hours later, I wake up and do it all over again except with everyday that goes by, I wake up looking more and more like a zombie.
I learned that I actually really enjoy school! I am not that great at working from home because I have TERRIBLE time management skills and no ambition to learn about half of the things I have to take. But god how I miss government!! The one class that is actually useful for the real world and understanding government and taxes …. and now I don't have the opportunity to go to the classes. And I haven’t harassed Mr. Chutchian in a really long time! He's gonna start feeling relaxed and he might even start enjoying teaching since he hasn’t been in a class with 30 children at once for two weeks! WE CANNOT HAVE THAT!!!
All joking aside I learned that I can paint kinda well. I made an area for my cat to sleep at night but she still prefers to lay on my face. Glad I put in that work for her… I bought an aloe vera plant and hope I don't kill it like I did the last one. Oh, and I bought a bunch of crafts that I can do with my sister so she doesn’t beat me up for her own entertainment. If Mr. Chutchian thinks he wants to slam his head on a desk to deal, with me, just wait for Maggie to enroll in his class!
I will also be using the tie dye kit I bought to make someone’s birthday present. I'm going to dye a shirt his favorite colors and use fabric paint to put some cool design on it. If you know who it is don't tell him. You don't want to be that guy that spoils a birthday present for someone. It’s not a very fun thing to be known for.
Holy cow. I wrote a lot. Oopsies. Oh well ,I hope this is what you were asking of me, how I'm being productive with all my free time, awful comedy and a hint of attention deficit disorder. Hope you enjoyed it!
